About Pramukh Swami Maharaj
Pramukh Swami Maharaj (1921–2016), born Shantilal Patel in Chansad, Gujarat, was the fifth spiritual successor in the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS). From a young age, he displayed deep devotion, humility, and a strong inclination toward spiritual service, eventually dedicating his life to God and humanity.
As the spiritual leader of BAPS for over four decades, he guided millions through his teachings of faith, morality, and selfless service. He inspired global spiritual growth, led humanitarian initiatives, and oversaw the construction of magnificent mandirs worldwide, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, unity, and devotion.
Spiritual Lineage
Pramukh Swami Maharaj belonged to the sacred Guru Parampara of the Akshar-Purushottam tradition, a spiritual lineage rooted in the teachings of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. This divine succession emphasizes the eternal relationship between Aksharbrahma and Parabrahma, guiding seekers toward spiritual purity, devotion, and ultimate liberation.
